The Canal Society walk this year will be on Tuesday 26 June. It will start at 7.00pm from the main steps of the Council House, on the corner of Corporation Street and Derwent Street in Derby.

It will be a circular walk along the River Derwent from the city centre to Darley Abbey, up one bank and back down the other.

The main theme of the walk will be the Riverboat Project, the objective of which is to instigate boat trips from Derwent Bridge to Darley Abbey. Explanations of how the project is being developed and how it will work will be given at various points on route.

There will be a few stops along the route to point out historical aspects of this part of Derby.

The walk is 3.5 miles long and is mostly flat, with few gradients.
