Dear Members of the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust

Welcome to the latest edition of the newsletter; not too sure that all of you received the last one, so apologies if we missed you!

I hope that all is well – it feels like “here we go again” with the lock-down, however keep safe and shout out if you need any help.

Working Parties

Working parties are still ongoing, with the new rules that are effective from Monday 14th September we will be restricting groups to a maximum of 6 people, well-spaced apart to continue the hedge cutting that started this month, a rare picture of me working, with full PPE (apart from the ear covering).

Work is also ongoing at Sandiacre to check the state of the lock walls, the more that Gary and David dig, with various helpers, the more issues seem to raise. However, we will overcome any obstacles.

Trust AGM

The Trust AGM is due to held on the 16th of this month, via the wonderful WWW, please book if you have not already done so. It also looks like we will have to hold the Society AGM the same way, notices will be going out soon. Please remember to let us know if you change your email address, this is getting so important to keep you all in touch.

The Trip Boat

The trip boat is coming! Work has been ongoing on the kitchen fit out and the electrical systems that are needed. We are also looking at crew being trained by the Chesterfield restoration group, all ready for a hopeful launch prior to the winter floods/high water. The Outram is currently based at Long Eaton for the fit-out.

Not Long until Christmas…

A couple of thoughts, we are only 6 weeks away from the clocks going back and only 15 weeks away from Christmas, if you are stuck for a Christmas present idea, why not give a membership for a year/life? Details from Gary or via our web page, or drop me a line.
