There are several options with markedly different costs. The least costly and least problematic would be to canalise part of the highway on the Longmoor Lane underpass, and the alternative is a costly tunneling exercise underneath the motorway. Taking the canal off-line and using a single boat width arrangement on Longmoor Lane is the Highway Agency's preferred option.
